So I've wanted to do this for a while now. As much as I would have loved to do some furry porn on my snowboard deck, that sort of thing isn't really welcome at ski hills that usually have children at them. So I decided to go with a few inspirational quotes about snowboarding (hence the numbers). Here are the quotes (seeing how my phone camera sucks ass):
1. People say you need DIRECTION; what's wrong with DOWN?
2. I know a lot of people that used to ski, but I don't know anyone that used to snowboard.
3. Real snowboarders don't care if you're a real snowboarder.
4. I scare the Hell out of myself every day.
5. When Hell freezes over, I'll snowboard there too.
6. Many people attach snowboards to their FEET; few attach them to their SOULS.
I'm sure I'll have some better photos of the deck before it gets scuffed up at the hill.
Sanding + Masking: 1.5 hrs.
White Spray Coat: 3 hours + 16 hrs. dry-time
Quotes: 3 hrs.
Technical Arttwork: 7 hrs.
Clearcoat: 3 hrs. + 24 hrs. dry-time

I wouldn't mind the sore butt, as long as I could stay upright for more than three seconds. XD
I definitely need to find someone to go with. I might be going up to Washington this January or February, and I'm hoping that would be a good time to start - but I have no idea how much something like that would cost, either.

Depends on whether you're buying or renting your equipment. Rent the first two or three times. If you know you're going more than that afterwards, buy your equipment. The start up cost is usually between 300 - 900 dollars to start (closer to 300 if you buy used; best idea - again, do so with a friend). The cost of buying your equipment will pay for itself in what you would pay in rentals within a year or two. Hope that helps. :3
Nice job, I really like the quotes!
Thanks to social connections, I managed to get an un-finished Burton Feel Good 2010 152cm(and tons of snowboard ink colors). The top is all white, and the clear coat as not been laid down yet, so it's perfect for customization :) Still looking for THE design idea...

Tight! An unspoiled deck. I had to strip mine by hand (took like three hours just to mar the surface, then smooth it out. Be sure to lay down lots and lots of wax on top of the clearcoat. Patience is key! If the clearcoat says 24 hours, give it 36. Post your work as you go, I wanna see it!
Great! I love this; thanks for showing what goes into customizing a graphic (been thinking about doing something like this for a long time...) Snowboarding is my life. So cool to see other furs interested in the activity. Do you know of any groups here on FA or elsewhere?
#2 is totally the truth. I read this quote in a snowboarding mag many years ago and it's still 99% true. It seems like people quit boarding only when they have to move.
So is #3
Would you consider yourself a 'soul-boarder'; someone who does it because it's an expression and for the personal freedom/feeling? Not to sound all New Agey...
One more question; what kind of deck is this?

Hey! I've only heard from the folks that have commented on this image that are into snowboarding. I haven't seen any FA groups that are snowboardin releated, though I'm sure they're out there, and if they're not, maybe we should start one. :D
I don't think I could legitimately call myself a soul-boarder. I don't get out nearly enough. Almost maybe. If I lived closer to Jasper I might, but as it is, there's only two tiny hills in my area, short of driving for two hours east, but then it's not nearly as fun doing such all by my lonesome. Though I will admit that when I'm hurtling down the hill and all I can hear is the wind rushing past, and the sound of snow being carved underneath me, that there is a sort of zen sensation that embraces me. Liberating would be a word to describe it.
The deck itself is a Ride Catalyst (freestyle). It's pretty 50/50 and just wide enough to handle my gigantic feet. It's old though. At least 10 years old. It does the trick though. :3

YES! I love Ride boards--my one and only 540 was on a Ride (about 16 years old now!). Now I'm using a Gnu (though really it was manufactured by Libtech, so what does that make it?). This year is snowskating since I'm in the same boat as you; no really close resorts but we have tons of good snowfall in the foothills here.
Jasper? As in Alberta? You are just up and right of me! I live in Montana about 5 miles under the boarder (near Milk River). Locals!! And yes, I would consider you a soul-boarder. One who enjoys the experience more than just getting radical or trying to show-off. Though that can be fun with friends...
