Today was open house day at the Deutsche Bundesbank, the german federal reserve bank, in Frankfurt.
You could touch an actual real gold bar in a secure box, watched by several lagre officers of the federal police. The thing is suprisingly heavy, more than 10 kg, and is worth almost half a million Euro. In the vaults under the Bundesbank campus in Frankfurt is actually a large part of the national gold treasure of the Federal Republic of Germany, about 1.710 tons of gold are stored here.
