Well, if one thing's true, I'll definitely take a dense, luscious forest over desert any day. The serene rivers, tall trees and singing birds are music to my ears over the howling dunes and pitter patter of sand. Plus the ecology is far prettier to look at as well, rabbits, bears, deer, all fantastic examples of creatures that roam and share an interest in the circle of life. Although, even with a forest like this it's ugh, pretty easy to get lost, and I think I've seen that same tree about 3 times now. Ah, no matter, might as well take a break and check over my notes. Anubis sure was a help in taking down all that I needed in his temple, and now I have a whole section on ancient egyptian hieroglyphs and architecture. But enough gawking, I need to get out of this forest and back to civilization again, now which way is the right way? I knew I should've brought some kind of compass to follow, but all these trees and shrubs look the same, they tower over me in height and block the sun from view, yet it peeks out a fair bit to keep everything alight. Plus, it's not like I can ask any animals around, why would they talk, what would they even say if they could? Guh, I'm getting sidetracked, maybe I can follow this river to a stream or someplace to set up a camp. Not long after I followed the stream I was treated to a peculiar sight, but I guess it's not as peculiar after the things I've seen, but surely a strange thing to see in a forest like this. It was a fox, but not just any fox, it was standing on two legs, wearing a green hoodie and casting a makeshift fishing rod into the river. Not wanting to reveal myself just yet I stayed in some bushes just outside of earshot, recording what he was doing. A few hours passed and if there's one thing I knew, it's that this fox was having no luck getting a catch today. His line coming up empty each time yet staying determined during it all, but I could watch no longer and if he had clothing then surely he must've gotten it from some kind of civilization nearby. Taking a deep breath I came out from the bush, trying to make it look like I stumbled upon him here rather than watching from a distance. His ears perked up and reeled in his line, tying it up as I greeted him. I asked if he knew where any kind of civilization was, complimenting his outfit, he replied saying that there was a way out of the forest and that he would lead me out but said I'd have to repay him later once he shows me out. It seemed simple enough and I had the resources available for any kind of trinket or valuable he could ask for so I agreed. He easily knew his way around this forest, passing through tree lines and dirt paths with ease, it's as if he visited here everyday. We trekked on and on until we reached a clearing, the sun shining brightly with the noise of vehicles and the bustle of people, him turning to me and demanding his payment with an outstretched hand. I didn't really know what he wanted to I just dug into my satchel to pull out some gems, to which he refused, I then pulled out some fruits and edibles, to which he refused, stumped I just gave him the whole pack to see what he wanted, to which he dropped it on the floor. I had to ask what he wanted, and he simply asked me to give him my hand. Well, I had no other idea what he wanted so I obliged, he then asked for the other, giving him my other hand was where I made my mistake, trusting a sneaky fox. Before I knew it he shoved both my arms down his gullet, and with surprising strength he put an arm around my head and the other cupped under my butt to push and devour my head and torso with leverage. In a lightning quick second he was drooling over my toes, turning away and heading off to the city before his jaws snapped shut over them, one final swallow sealing me in darkness in his interior as I had no choice but to settle in and get comfortable. A quick belch from him and a tap or two came before he spoke, saying this was the reward he wanted, a fitting meal to keep after his unlucky fishing session. After informing him he could've just asked instead of relying on the surprise he seemed rather friendly, we had a chat while he strutted around with me in tow, letting me know his name, Generals the fox.
