The family Firenor was adopted into as a dragon has a tradition with learning sword fighting, no matter the eventual sword type, that you may only use a training weapon until you have so mastered fighting with it that is almost makes no difference whether you have a blade or not.

These training katana's are specially treated wood imbued with both micro and nano runes to both be nearly identical in feel when using energy techniques with them as a real blade, but to also be nearly impossible to break. Firenor here has had this same training katana for 200 years, from back when she was growing up as a dragon, through gaining an Umbreon form and sort of growing up again. She still keeps it and will just as often pull it out when confronted by an foe as when she pulls out her real swords.

And yes, she LOVES it when a foe laughs at seeing "just" a wooden sword...
