Unspoken Shame.
This story is the product of yet another wonderful exercise from my current favourite book, 'The 3am Epiphany'. It contains all manner of weird and wonderful exercises to help fiction writers hone their skills.
This particular exercise challenges you to write about a socially taboo subject; something people would rather not think or talk about. Given that the furry fandom is pretty open... well, I think I still managed to pick a pretty grim subject without having to resort to anything remotely adult, but consider yourselves forewarned nonetheless.
Oh, and just to be clear, the issues raised in this story do not reflect my own opinions. Nor am I intending to make this a soap box for either side of the debate. It's called fiction for a reason. ;3

If there's one thing I love about this story, it's how the story feels so real. I mean, these kinds of things sadly happen and I think you did a very good job showing not only how hurt someone can be from these kinds of things, but how careless and crule some people can be. I live in a small town and can relate characters in this story to people I actually know. Great job!
