When sunset happens, it's time to sleep. Let the abyss take you, for it has been waiting.
----
This is a piece drawn based off the (at the time of writing) early access MMO title on Steam called Worlds Adrift - The world has shattered and its up to you to piece it back together and rediscover your history. In it, you can custom design your own ship, and team up with others, or pirate them. One thing of note is, below the various floating islands dotting the cloudy landscape lies a layer of clouds where - once you descend into it - there is no going back. It is your end.
I personally put over 200 hours of time into this game, and I enjoyed every second, I looked forward to future developments and was excited to see where the game would go. That is, until just a couple days ago when I learned the project was being cancelled.
This event hit me pretty emotionally because I thoroughly enjoyed what the game had to offer, and I even had plans to gather my crew in the next few days to endure a tough obstacle called the sand wall. But alas, it was not to be. The developers of Worlds Adrift also stated that there would be one last event in-game - The End of the World event - then the servers would be shut down. I took this opportunity to express some of my love for this game by taking the idea of the end of the world, and what it would look like in-lore (as I saw it). In this case, a mysterious yet powerful blue-green blast swept across the skies, turning Atlas (the material that lets everything float) to dust, causing the ships - and the islands themselves - to fall into the abyss below, and disintegrate. All hope lost - especially so as another more powerful wave of energy hurls itself toward you.
For fellow captains and sky-pilots, may the wind ever be in your sails - I'll see you on the other side.
It's time to sleep, as sunset has begun.

That's very deep.
I kinda feel like saying "I love the picture" but at the same time it feels sad since it also depicts the end of a game people loved to play. I feel you.
It reminds me of the pic you drew which shows an Avali waiting with a small bouquet of flowers - waiting forever after their date just stopped existing, without an apparent reason. The picture itself is really nice but the story behind it gives it - at least in my opinion - a really deep, sad meaning. The one that leaves me sitting in front of my screens, feeling a bit of a painful emptiness fill my stomach.
I love your art for that though. Keep up the good work even if it's very emotional (:
