Okay, here is a short story:
This July I got myself a tx2 1020us, a tablet pc from HP, little did I knew the size of the trap I was getting myself into... poor research, I should have stick with the x200 but didn't, anyway.
Other then the faulty n-trig drama, and the other confusions, this thing was fine, but on my last day in the US it started going "usb device not recognized" on me, which I ignored, bad move.
Okay, so I kept getting that often enough to make the digitizer unusable which was a nightmare, making me a bit upset at this thing and not really using it, not that I didn't try or insist, but it would be just too much. Later I tried getting Windows Seven in this, since when an USB device fails it tries to reconnect it automatically, that did help a little.
Well at that tinkering with the faulty digitizer made me memorize some things, along the irq of its usb controller, and other things, which helps me telling when its fucking up or not.
So today, I travelled to my grand folks city to spend christmas, flight got delayed and I had to way a little for it, so I thought, maybe I try to doodle some, well I start it up and it wont start the host controller for my digitizer, which made me think, ok, it died for good.
After some moments of delusion and planning on the next laptop, I decided to take its battery away, staring at it, I decided to open the little metal cover that shields its base, and give the connections a tight squeeze into place... I boot it up again, and wow, things having been working.
I couldn`t believe, I went to SAI and doodle something from scrap, even with the lack of pressure control on wintab.dll api programs, windows seven at least makes the pointer behave like a regular pointer, allowing me to draw just fine, with no stalls or anything, so I managed to whip this in a bit under then one hour, its not great, but maybe gave me hope of finally having this thing working again.
The only reason I opened it was simple, I went to the HP store in here and they told me they couldn't service warranty on merchandise brought abroad, when I said I'd pay for whatever cost he said the 1020 model in here was different from the 1020us... other then keyboard layout, the screen is just the same, that pissed me a fair deal.
Anyway... this might be working again, so maybe I can finally start drawing properly in this, after almost half a year owning it and not being able to?
log.
