My largest stained glass piece to date. I love stained glass! It's dimensions are about 1 3/4 feet high x about 2 1/2 feet long.

This particular piece has lead-free solder but the came (the "framing") is Brass covered lead I believe. I haven't used leaded solder yet but it is supposed to be easier to use since it has a lower melting temp. Less chance of cracking the glass due to heat from the soldering iron.
oooh, my mom used to do stained glass, and all her old tools are still in the basement.
I've always wanted to do stained glass, though, I've never really found the motivation...
there's a house in my neighbourhood that used to have stained glass windows, but I think they've moved away and the windows have since been replaced :/
anyway, I used to have this small decal on my bedroom window when I was little of a unicorn in a stained glass sorta style, but since my favourite mythical creature since I was about 3 were dragons, I always thought it'd be cool to someday make a stained glass window of a dragon XD
well, I see you've done that, so I congratulate you for doing what I have not!
it's very well done too!

The best way to learn stained glass is to find somewhere that offers a beginners class. Or...there are several books that have instructions for basic stained glass techniques. Church windows are amazing! The original style of stained glass was much different than most of todays. They did much more painting of images on colored glass and only had a few colors of glass from which to choose. Interesting stuff! Thanks for the comment.
omg it. Your stained glass pieces inspire me.
Do you use carbon paper in your development process?
Your pieces bring back great memories. I was fortunate to be taught by a friend when I interned at a National Park. I made two pieces and never thought to post them on FA.
I would luv to find a place to make some or take a course.

I don't use carbon paper currently though I did learn how to use it in college. I might have used it for this piece but I honestly don't remember. If you go back in my gallery I have a step-by-step of my process currently (the pegasus suncatcher).
We have our "studio" space in the apartment but it would be wonderful for the glass to have it's own room. Some day when we have our own home I suppose.
