When the universe was created, it was created as two planes of existence, the physical plane and the celestial plane, both connected together one-to-one, the celestial plane contains the spirits, and the physical plane contains matter. Spirits are connected to various things in the physical plane. Like everything that lives, but also the planets and the stars. Earth is special, as it is like a rift to the spiritual plane, with spiritual energy leaking through, causing life to form.
Physical description:
The archangel dragons appear as very short-furred white glowing beasts of various sizes and shapes. They seem to not be a true species like one would classify things living on earth, so the variety in appearance can be very large. Reported sizes have been anywhere from 30 centimeters to over a kilometer. One can instantly recognize one by their large ring shaped halo “horn”. They have a blood red helix pattern running from their shoulders and down over their fronts. Many of them have rather long heads, but variation in head shape exists, a correlation between size and head shape has been recognized, with smaller ones typically, but not always having rounder heads. Their bodies can be long and serpent-like, or short and round. Some lack legs, some have legs. Some have arms and hands, some just have wings for arms. Even multiple sets of arms have been seen. Another feature one would recognize on them are their tail fins, which can come in a large variety of shapes as well.
Behavior:
The archangel dragons are very kind and act as protectors of the earth and everything living on it from the monsters from beyond the stars. The chaotic void creates monsters known as “Cosmic Titans”. These twisted abominations seek to enter the spiritual realm through earth to feed on the spirits with a boundless appetite. Using their incredible powers, the Dragons will tear them apart, but they aren’t always successful, so many of them will lend part of their power to a creature living on earth, these chosen ones are given incredible powers to aid the Dragons in their time of need, but once the titan is vanquished, the chosen ones turn back to their old selves.
Some dragons aren’t born with abilities suitable to combat these monstrosities, but are instead gifted with other incredible abilities to help life on earth, such as curing disease, revitalizing withered crops, bringing good luck, and causing rain to end droughts, among many others.
The dragons all speak a divine language that is incomprehensible to anyone but them, but most of them also speak human languages.
They can eat food in the physical plane, but typically eats spiritual energy in the celestial plane, as it is easier to come by, especially for the larger dragons who would need truckloads of food.
