Sword doggo does seem to be the better of the two. Maybe that's because it's hard to trust in a Pokemon where the main combat strategy is "I block it with my FACE!"
But I'll probably start with Shield first, then get Sword for a second run. That way I have this guy to look forward to. And I love your depiction of him.
