First artwork of my sergal character as a Scots Covenanter solider I had commissioned. The Covenanters were a Presbyterian group active in Scotland during the mid-1600s. During the English Civil War the Covenanters first fought against the Catholic Royalists, but later fought against the Parliamentarians as well. After the war, the Covenanters faced persecution by the ruling government. Several Covenanters would emigrate to Ulster and then later the American colonies.
