Sometimes Lord Hizora, King of the Forest and Ruler of Animals, liked his job. He liked the attention and the adventures and when he got to shout at people and right wrongs and all the exciting sorts of things he had read about in stories.
But along with the shouting and the adventures and the righting of wrongs, being King also meant you were at the service of every resident of the forest, and their demands could range from holding back a landslide so the badgers could evacuate, to listening to a squirrel's petty grievances about the nut yield that year.
…Sometimes Lord Hizora hated his job. Especially when he was hungry.
A recent piece of an old subject; Hizora here is a Daikyo, a creature I created some five years ago. In essence, they are giant snake-like ferret creatures with long fluffy tails and horns. They have some magical powers, like dragons, and have the innate ability to shift into smaller, anthro versions of themselves (shown here). Hizora is the King of the Forest, and as such has even more magical powers, but this does not mean he is immune to physical cravings.
That came out wrong. I mean he gets hungry. :|

Wow, beautiful job with the forest! And the two kinds of tree trunks are very well done - the left one seems like it is framing the picture. :3 Very nice. Is it poplar's trunk?
Those pants look so good - if I'd like to wear that kind of clothing I would steal them from him! x3 They're so realistic that you could reach your hand it feel the fabric.
And it's not easy to be a king. ^^;
