I had the pleasure of hosting my good friend, DaiCymru, for a few days while he vacationed in Canada and the US. We attended a classic car show together where he snapped this one of me at work. Thanks, Dai!

With so many talented photographers on here sometimes I mix the lot of you up. ;)
Now if I ever get you and
BigPhotoBear in the same room together there's guaranteed to be no hope for me...

BigPhotoBear is really good. I admire his avian photography and am jealous of anybody who can get aurora photos without leaving home.
Love that big Pontiac Bonneville (Parisienne?) behind the GTO. I like the classic muscle cars, but I prefer the Great American Land Yachts.
I love outdoor car shows. Not only do I get to see some beautiful iron I wouldn't get to see otherwise, but I've played music at the local ones for years. You'd be surprised by how much a good car show gig can pay! And then there are the people you meet. Yeah...car shows are fun gigs on all kinds of levels.

I don't have any special affection for the muscle cars. I am jazzed by anything with lots of chrome, be it a land yacht, muscle car, pickup truck, or family sedan from the 1940s through the mid 1970s.
Outdoor shows are the best. My oldest son and I make a yearly trek to Lindsborg, Kansas for the Smoky Valley Car Show. it's held in the city park, surrounded by these great trees that keep the August sun from becoming too unbearable.
Most of the car shows I attend play canned music, mostly great 50s rock from Buddy Holly and the like. Do you do solo gigs at those shows?

A DJ friend and I usually split the gig. He covers the kind of canned oldies you described, with live versions of some of the same songs by me, along with whatever else I may be inspired to play. That's the beauty of car show gigs. It's not a concert--the music is there to provide some background, so they're pretty easygoing.
