If you think alcohol is too touchy of a subject, I suggest not reading any further.
I've noticed people glorifying alcohol nonstop, talking about how great it is and how it makes the pain go away......
Alcohol kills 2.8 million people per years.
Risks;
Injuries. Drinking too much increases your chances of being injured or even killed. Alcohol is a factor, for example, in about 60 percent of fatal burn injuries, drownings, and homicides; 50 percent of severe trauma injuries and sexual assaults; and 40 percent of fatal motor vehicle crashes, suicides, and fatal falls.
Health problems. Drinking can cause a number of health problems. Studies have shown that one drink a day increases the risk of breast cancer in women. Research has also shown that people who drink excessively have a greater risk of liver disease, heart disease, depression, stroke, and stomach bleeding, as well as cancers of the oral cavity, esophagus, larynx, pharynx, liver, colon, and rectum. They may also have problems managing conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, pain, and sleep disorders. And they may increase their chances for contracting sexually transmitted infections from unsafe sex.
Birth defects. Drinking during pregnancy can cause brain damage and other serious problems in the baby. Because it is not yet known whether any amount of alcohol is safe for a developing baby, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not drink.
Alcohol use disorder. Alcohol use disorder is a medical condition that doctors can diagnose when a patient's drinking causes distress or harm. In the United States, about 17 million people have alcohol use disorder.
Beyond these physical and mental health risks, frequent heavy drinking also is linked with personal problems, including losing a driver's license and having relationship troubles.

I'm going to share two very personal stories.. things I haven't told anyone other than my very close friends...
years ago, only a day after Christmas my great uncle decided to drink and drive- heading home from wherever he'd went to. He crashed into a pole and flew out of his window. When he was put in the hospital, it was confirmed by his blood alcohol level that he had been drinking, he died not even a week later. He was the last piece to the family keeping everyone together, we've had less and fewer family gatherings and less camping trips and when there are camping trips, it's just not the same without him. This destroyed my grandma, her baby brother died.
The second story, my grandmother. She's had a long long struggle with alcohol. She went to rehab ages ago because she kept falling and getting herself hurt. She came back, her husband at the time kept bringing rum into the house declaring she was the only one who can't drink. She, of course, picked up drinking again. after a few years of this, he left her because "SHE" had the problem. While she was all alone in her house with almost nothing to support herself- no food, no untinsels, the house was nearly stripped baren because of her ex. She got worse, she drank rum like it was water, she ended up blackout drunk, fell and busted her head open and had to be sent to the emergency room.
The waiting room was full of our family members, I was there almost every day, I had to take two days off work to see her and recover myself from the emotional damage it dealt. she nearly didn't make it, she was inches away from death and everyone was saying their goodbyes. Well, she did get through it, she got out of the hospital and I can't even say how happy I was that she was out... until she started drinking beer then started hitting rum as it depended on her life.... shes only a few steps away from ending up in the hospital again- I had moved in with her a few months ago, she kept falling- at least 5 times, she hit her head twice and had to go to the ER once because she had a huge bump on her head. She ended up kicking me out because I actually tried to put a stop to it and sent me back to the one place I absolutely dread.
Alcohol kills and destroys. Alcohol is poison. There is no reason more an excuse for drinking. It's a monster and not only will it destroy your life but it will destroy those around you.
I personally believe alcohol is a very selfish thing... I apologize if anyone thinks this is excessive and out of line or whatever but I CAN'T ignore people glorifying alcohol anymore. It doesn't make depression go away, it makes it worse.

But don't even get me started on people who decide to drink when they're pregnant...you're pretty much left to deal with whatever health problems and whatever else that's left behind because of someone else's foolish decision.
and yea I feel like a small majority of first-time mothers are just very immature with that sense, my dad's ex was doing drugs while she was pregnant with my little sister- funny/not so funny part was she wasn't her first child
