I'm not dead!
sat down and talked with my soon-to-be husband about my art, never really talked and it felt nice. I know my art lacks basic structure, and it suffers really bad from that. I also have never really done any studies to help improve my anatomy or framing. I got some posing dolls to help with that as I lack severely in imagination to be able to think of what to draw...
idk if it's just a hard art block I'll never get over, but for the last couple years I cant ever think of what to draw, its like when your in an argument and your mind goes completely blank? and i can put anything down because I have to have SOMETHING in mind to put it down, and I just... don't.
I lack internal structure with my art, like building blocks in the frame of a upside down triangle, there's no solid structure there to hold everything else, so I keep crashing and having to rebuild.
I also lack a solid style, My art was becoming so basic and plain, and while good, there was nothing special about it, and I'm ready to fix that.
I kept going back and forth from anatomically correct to cartoonish, I fucking love cartoons, and they're the base of why i started drawing, so I'm going back to my roots and sticking with a cartoon style, something that has mild anatomy here and there to show general shape, but the big circle eyes, noodle arms and slinky fingers are where my hearts at, and I'm sticking to it.
also adding a bit of character to my muzzles? this is something I've messed with in the past but I'm tired of the bland square muzzle, I want something long slinky and plumpy with character and cuteness
I may dip my toe in the the anatomy correct style with some flare but I really love the cartoon heart I've got.
other things like my shading style and my way of finishing may tweek but everything else was pretty solid, its just the structure of what I have that was so.... wobbly.
thanks for reading my ted talk
