Outside of Naylene's room, Adrian and Aliana could hear Bryce sobbing. Standing right next to the door against by leaning up against the wall would allow someone to be able to hear what's going on inside. They didn't know what sort of detrimental experience could have possibly happened to make him do this. Aliana became too scared for his well being, and like a troubled mother wanting to make sure their own child was alright, she hastily opened the door to the room. “Bryce!' She spoke with a concerned tone. “Sweetheart are you okay?”
She could hear him sniffle a few times as he could be seen wiping his eyes with his arm. He turned to face her while his eyes began to water again. But this was also met with a bit lip smile. “I...remember her!” He sniffled again, this one being the last one as he regained a good portion of his composure. “I'm such an idiot! I can't believe I forgot about my own mother!” He laughed embarrassingly at himself.
Aliana was at first dumbfounded by his words, but the expression soon faded into a joyful grin. Outside the room still leaning up against the wall, Adrian made the same expression. Despite the earlier ordeal from revealing his mother's condition without easing Bryce more into the situation, things turned out for the better. He felt like he could relax again and that he wouldn't get scolded by his wife later on.
“Thank you.” Bryce wiped his eyes with his hand to clear away the last bit water that was making his vision blurry. “I really appreciate you guys bringing me to her.” His embarrassed laugh became a chuckle as he looked back over to his mother. He still felt like he was an idiot but was able to forgive himself quickly. “Sorry I forgot all about you there for a while mom.” He continued to hold her hand gently but firmly.
Adrian then felt like it was best to come back into the room. He greeted Bryce with a joyful smile. “I'm sure she'd just be glad that you can remember her buddy. There's no way that she would be mad at you for something you had no control over.” He walked up to him and placed his hand on Bryce's shoulder. “Sorry for freaking you out earlier. I just sort of panicked there and just felt like getting it over with. Like ripping off a band-aid.” He could hear his wife scoff softly behind him. She was still a little upset with him for almost turning this into a bigger problem.
Adrian, embarrassed, thought to himself that if he did something like this again, it'd probably be best to just resign from his position as a doctor and find a different line of work. All to avoid any further awkwardness or course. “Ahem. Anyway, how do you feel? Any more head pain?”
Bryce scratched at his bandages. He tried thinking about anything to see if it would spark some more pain. The room fell silent for a short while, with only the sounds of the machines Naylene was hooked up to being made. Bryce scoffed skeptically. “I don't feel any pain but...I don't think that it won't come back. Can it?”
“Hmmm.” Adrian scratched the side of his index finger along his chin. “It's possible. Your injury is pretty severe. It can't heal up completely after such a short period of time. Best guess is that the memories that were struggling the most to be remembered were what was causing the pain in your head. Now that they're back, the pain has subsided for the time being.” He patted Bryce gently on the shoulder. Adrian removed his hand from shortly after the gesture, placing it and his other one in his coat pockets. “We'll need to run some more tests on the both of you. There could still be some things we might have missed in the initial tests while you were still unconscious. I want to make sure that you don't have anterograde amnesia or any other permanent damage.”
“What's that?” Bryce asked calmly without any signs of discomfort.
“It's where you have difficulty remembering new information or producing new memories. For example if you were to fall asleep, you'd completely forgot this entire day like it never happened. It would continue every time, like hitting a reset button in your sleep.” Adrian saw Bryce's eyes widen a little. “But don't worry, the odds of that being a possibility are very slim. I just want to be extra sure that there are no signs of such a thing.” He gave him an assured smile to let him know he was serious about there being no such danger.
Bryce felt at ease from the gesture. “That's good to know. I'd hate to have to keep reliving the same day over and over again.”
Adrian chuckled a little. “Nobody does.” He took his left hand out of his pocket and held it up with his index finger raised. “I'd also like to get you on some anti-anxiety medications as well for the time being. It'll help you settle down and be more relaxed now that your condition has gotten better. Luckily we have a file on you from when you were born to help us determine any allergens just in case.”
Bryce's eyes lit up. “You have a file on me?”
“We do.” Adrian kept his smile as he lowered his arm back down to his side. “And yes, once we take you back to your room and I've looked it over, you can look at it to help you remember some more stuff about yourself.” He knew Bryce was going to ask for this before he even said it out loud. “Speaking of which I'm going to go do that right now. I can leave you here with your mother for a little longer.” He looked over at the clock that was hanging on the wall. “About five minutes. But after that, Aliana will take you back to your room. Okay?”
Bryce nodded in agreement. “I understand. In fact, I think I could use some time to myself to process all of this. I still don't know what all I can and can't remember yet.”
Aliana placed her hands on Bryce's shoulders. “If you want, me and Adrian can give you those five minutes alone with your mother.”
Bryce placed his hand on top of hers that was resting on his left shoulder. “I'd like that.” She nodded to him with a smile and turned to face her husband. Nodding to him as well, he understood completely. He lead the way as she followed him to the door. Bryce, however, had a sudden memory jolt in his head that he had asked himself earlier. “Hey, Miss Asola?” She stopped and turned to face him with curiosity as to what it was he had stopped her for. “I meant to ask you or your husband earlier. How do you guys know me and my mom? Was it that file?”
Aliana became a little dumbfounded once more, but again that quickly faded into another grin. “Isn't it obvious sweetheart? My husband and I were the ones who helped you into this world.” She chuckled softly and then left the room, closing the door behind her.
“Huh.” Bryce was stricken with his own dumbfounded expression. Just like Aliana, his too faded into a grin. Which then became a smile of his own, and he then began to chuckle at himself. Still holding his mother's hand he raised it up to his forehead and continued his embarrassed gesture which soon turned into a quiet yet serious laugh. “I AM an idiot. Even with amnesia that should've been obvious.”

Once Bryce was back in his room, Aliana proceeded to take the clipboard at the end of his bed and go over some of its contents. Bryce was still getting himself comfortable in his bed while she was doing this. “Okay.” She flipped some of the pages up and quickly went over some of the information on the next ones. Once she was done, she flipped them back down and placed the clipboard back at the bed of the bed while holding one random sheet of paper in her hand. “Alright, sweetheart. I'm going to ask you to fill out a questionnaire for me okay?”
Bryce's attention was seized. He knew what a questionnaire was but he was a little nervous about what it could possibly ask of him. “Fill out what? It's not something complicated is it?”
“No no, not at all.” She walked over to him and handed him the slip of paper. “All you have to do is answer these questions.” She pulled out a pen from her pocket and clicked it to expose the ballpoint and gave it Bryce. She then proceeded to point at the top of the paper as a gesture of showing him where to start. “Tell us whether you can remember these options or not, and if yes, tell us what they are. This will help us determine how far along your memory has recovered and if any lingering effects of your amnesia are still affecting you in some areas. There may be a question or two that you may not know whether you didn't know it beforehand or due to your amnesia. Just try to answer those ones as best you can, alright?” She pulled up a stand that was connected to the bed and set up to rest over top of his lap to use as a hard surface to write on.
Bryce took a quick glance at the sheet of paper and noticed a few questions he knew he'd be able to answer. “Okay. Do I call you when I'm done or will you come back at a certain time to get it?”
“If you finish it by the time Adrian comes back in, he'll take it. If not I'll be in later to check on you. Which will be I think...” She took a quick look at the clock to get her estimate. “About an hour. That okay with you?”
“Of course,” Bryce said with a cheerful grin. “I think I'll definitely have it done before then.”
“Good.” Aliana said with her own grin back at him. “Take your time then.” She made her way to the door and closed it on her way out to give Bryce a quiet environment to better focus on answering the questions.
Even though he wanted to have something to do for the time being, especially since he forgot to ask Aliana to turn on the data scroll on the wall, he figured he might as well get it over with. Twiddling the pen in his fingers, he began to read what was typed up on the questionnaire out loud to himself. “Question 1; Do you remember your own name, age and birth date? Yes. Bryce Ranvir, thirteen years old. July 5th.”
“Question 2; Do you remember your mother's name, her age and birth date? Yes. Naylene Ranvir, thirty-one years old. September 4th.”
“Question 3; Do you remember your father's name, his age and birth date?” This one made Bryce stop and ponder. He waited to see if a throb in his head would start to show his memory trying to come out. No such thing happened. It confused him to think that if he could remember his mother why couldn't he also remember his father? Bryce believed he was either never told about his father or the memories of him have yet to try to resurface. “No.”
“Question 4; Do you know of any other relatives in your family?” This one made him feel a little uneasy. The only other family members he knew of were the grandparents on his mother's side. If there were any on his father's side he wouldn't know, since he couldn't remember him either. “Yes. Grandparents; Morris and Emma Ranvir.” The next sentence was difficult to write. Despite what they did to his mother, suddenly remembering them like the opposite to forgetting a dream still made him upset. “Deceased.”
“Question 5; Do you know the name of the city in which you live in and who oversees it and their name? Yes. Anduruna. Viscount Calah.” Answering the question with the Viscount's name was used to help clarify that the person answering them knew the current year as well.
“Question 6; Do you remember where you live? Either by yourself or with family?” Again Bryce stopped and pondered, and again he felt no pain in his head. He knew that he and his mother would obviously be living somewhere, but the memories of such a place weren't presenting themselves either. “No.” He felt a little scared, for if he was discharged from the hospital he wouldn't know where to go if his mother was still comatose. The thought of being put in a foster home was not a pleasant thought. He didn't really want to be taken care of by people he didn't know since the only one who he can remember is his mother. He shook off the thoughts so he could focus on answering the rest of the questions.
“Question 7; Do you remember your level of education? High School, College, Home Schooling etc.” This one felt a little more difficult. He contemplated at the question and thought carefully. “Mom would know this one.” He gently bit at the end of the pen. He didn't know the right answer. However, unbeknownst to him, he was in fact home schooled by Naylene. But just like he believed to be the case, only she could tell him this. So he simply gave the question the answer that he was leaning towards the most at this point. “No.”
“Question 8; Do you remember how you lost your memory?” He scratched at his bandages again and felt like the answer was there but couldn't find it. He believed that once Adrian had finished going over the answers on the questionnaire, he'd provide the ones he knew himself afterwards. Possibly even the ones he had the most difficulty with. “No.”
Before he could get to the ninth and final question, he heard the doorknob turn as the door opened. Adrian was making his way inside while looking through the file that they had mentioned earlier. Closing it up after reading the last entry, he looked over to see Bryce with the questionnaire. “Ah.” He said with an intrigued grin. “She has you answering that little quiz there huh? I can take it for you if you're done with it.”
Bryce smirked while shaking his head. “No, not yet. I just have this last question to answer and then I'll be done. If you want I can answer it real quick now and you can take it.”
Adrian nodded. “Sure thing.” He stood there patiently waiting for Bryce to finish the last question while holding on to the file. He looked through it a little bit more to pass the time as his patient finished up with the last question.
Turning his attention back to the questionnaire, he read the last one to in himself in his head so as not to distract Adrian. “Question 9; If you have awakened it: Do you know your Dreamkeeper Power and what it can do?” Unlike the previous ones he struggled with, this last one didn't affect him all that much. There was no throbbing head pain, no confusion, nor memory flashes. All he thought about was what he knew naturally about them. How all Dreamkeepers have one and can awaken them. But that it was also forbidden by law to use them in public. He still remained loyal to keeping his promise of not telling anyone that Aliana used hers, since it was merely an act of compassion. Had it been reversed he probably would've done the same thing for her.
At that time, Bryce came to a conclusion that since powers were forbidden, then his mother would not have had him use it at any point in time. There was no way she'd risk endangering her own son, and that he would never do something that would horribly upset her or risk them both getting in trouble with the law. “I think I know the answer to this one quite obviously.” He pressed the pen down onto the paper and wrote his one worded answer. “No.”'
He clicked the end of the pen to pull the ballpoint back in and handed both it and the questionnaire to Adrian. Taking both and placing the pen in his pocket, he then handed him the file. “Thanks sport. Be sure not get the papers mixed up, I have them in a particular order okay?”
“Absolutely.” Bryce opened up the file and placed it on the stand in front of him, eager to see if there was anything else that could help trigger his memories. Speaking of which, the one from earlier came up and he wouldn't miss the opportunity a second time. “Mr. Asola, before you go could turn on the data scroll on the wall there? I'd like to watch the news for a while if you don't mind.”
“Not a problem.” Adrian walked over and pulled the large scroll down from its hanging spot and turned it over to the CNC news feed. “If you need anything else, my wife's right outside. Just give her a shout.”
Bryce nodded with a grin. “I know. Thank you again.” Adrian returned the gesture with his own and made his way out of the room to go tend to other matters. Once the door had closed all Bryce could hear was the reporter covering a story on the data scroll as he read through the file. “I'm glad the only serious things I can't remember is my dad and where I live. Let's see if I can remember anything smaller that I may have forgotten and hopefully it jogs those lose.”
