On Friday We March (read description!!!)
Noah reminding everyone to take action against climate change
by attending the Fridays For Future movement!
If you don't know what I'm talking about:
#FridaysForFuture is an international movement of school students who are deciding
not to attend classes and instead take part in demonstrations to demand action
to prevent further global warming and climate change.
Publicity and widespread organising began when the climate activist Greta Thunberg
staged an action in August 2018 outside the Swedish parliament,
holding a sign that read "School strike for the climate".
"There is no planet B!"
Every Friday thousands of people worldwide strike in front of town halls and parliaments
to protest the lack of effective climate legislation on a governmental level.
While every country has individual specific demands,
the overall goals of the FFF movement are all in the favor of saving the planet and ourselves
from irreversable damage done by climate change (which we are responsible for)!
example, Goals of FFF Germany:
- by 2035, Germany should have net-zero greenhouse gas emissions
- by 2030, Germany should cease all coal mining
- by 2035, all of Germany's energy should come from renewable sources
- cutting all government subsidies for fossil-fuel energy sources (2019)
- shutting one quarter of all German coal power plants (2019)
- a tax on carbon dioxide emissions to make its cost
"as high as the cost that greenhouse gases will cause future generations" (2019)
