Workout and Fun
The next morning came in bright and sunny. Nicholas was up first and quietly went down to the kitchen. The first thing the husky did was check the fridge to make sure the things for breakfast were here and ready to be used before he got some food to eat. The guy was already dressed so now all there was to do besides waiting for the others to awaken and feed them was to now check things out to make sure his time hosting them would still go smoothly. It was about 8:30 and found the guy at the dining room table, reading the news. Tamira then came into the room and the male looked up. “Morning,” he said with a smile.
“Yes, it is,” the pantheress replied. She was in a jogging outfit with the pants and a top that was sleeveless.
“Guess you’re going out for your usual run then?”
“I wish I had gotten up earlier. But this will do. And I was thinking of using the treadmills for now before running around the neighborhood.”
“Okay then. Well when you get hungry for breakfast just come on in here.”
The feline left the room and had a good run. Tamira then went back upstairs to shower. She returned to the kitchen, fresh and clean at around 9:20. “Hungry now?” Nicholas asked her. “I’ve got just about everything. I can even start you with something to drink to. The tea and coffee will take a little bit.”
The feline ordered what she wanted but started with a power bar to hold off until the others got up. Luckily they came down stairs with Meika leading the way at 9:30. They were all dressed and she was in a t-shirt and shorts looking adorable. “There they are,” Nicholas said with a grin to them, but especially the vixen. “Good morning.”
Meika smiled back at him. “Morning!” she replied cheerfully with a wave.
Tamira looked up from her mug and nodded to the others. “You’re up already?” Tag asked.
“I told you she got up early in the morning,” Nicholas said. “Then again, you guys have had a two hour time zone change and flight so it’s not surprising you’re all rising up late.” The husky then clapped his paws together. “Now then, what would you like to eat for breakfast? I’ve got just about everything.”
The first item was pouring the coffee, tea, or juice for those who wanted that. Nicholas then got the order from the others. “Don’t worry, I ate already,” he told the group. “So don’t feel bad about me.”
Soon the sound of food being prepared was heard. Meika just watched him and found herself smiling softly at what the husky was doing. Nobody else seemed to notice her after the vixen took a quick look. She blushed and wondered what was wrong with her. She had just met Nicholas yesterday. The vixen turned to the others who were talking and joined their conversation. “Man, it already smells good,” Sonny commented to Nicholas.
“It won’t be much longer,” the husky replied. “But I’m glad you think so.”
“And I thought the kitchen was one place a male didn’t do any work,” Meika said teasingly. “Seems quite the opposite here instead of a female.”
“Well I couldn’t ask you guys to cook,” Nicholas shot back at her. “You’re my guests here. Besides, I think you’ll change your mind when you’ve tasted it.”
The first round of food was ready and the husky laid it out before the others. “Bon Appetit,” he said with a grin. Meika had some eggs in an omelet like the way she asked and a couple of pancakes. She took a forkful of the eggs and let it cool a little before taking a bite. Her taste buds exploded and the female was blown away.
“Oh my…” the vixen gasped and looked to Nicholas with a dazzling smile. “Nicholas, this is wonderful!”
“This is amazing…” Tag agreed. The others said similar comments.
“Thank you,” the husky replied. “It’s no problem as well.”
“I thought I could cook, but this is something else,” Meika said to him as he sat down across from her.
“And how’s that?” the canine asked with a teasing grin. “By boxed direction?”
The vixen giggled and shook her head. “As if!” she replied. “Despite how I grew up I’ve learned how to from the cooks and my mom. What about you?”
“From my mother and from living on my own,” Nicholas answered. “It’s a great skill to have.”
“Well I think this will hold me till dinner,” Miles said with a smile on his beak.
“So what are we doing today if not go around the city?” Meelo then asked.
“Well since the pool party is tomorrow, we’ll stay here,” the husky replied. “However, today is a workout day for me. Gotta stay in shape. You guys are welcome to join me down in the basement in that area I showed you around 3:30 in the afternoon. You don’t have to though. After clearing these dishes, I’ll be in my office if you need me. If you need lunch…” The guy went to the fridge, opened it, and showed the group what they could use to make it if they needed it.
Meika was the first to finish her breakfast and saw Nicholas begin to gather up the dishes that were finished and put them with the ones used for cooking. The husky began to clean and she walked up to the sink. “I can help,” the vixen offered. “It’s only fair since you made such an awesome breakfast!”
“You sure?” the male with glasses asked with a smile.
“I don’t mind!” The two shared a grin.
With her help it didn’t take as long to clean up the dishes and put them in the dishwasher. “I’m going to unpack more,” Meelo said after getting up from the table. “Thanks for breakfast again Nicholas.”
The others stated what they would do. For Meika it was to look a bit more into what she wanted to do just to be safe. Everyone then went their own way. But Nicholas first had to feed his fish like he did once a day when he was here. When the guy was racing or out of the house, the same people who stopped by to clean had one who came by once a day to feed them. He then went into his office to not only contact those who were coming to the pool party and see if things were still good, but also to take care of other business as well. But the real fun wouldn’t begin until the workout time. Meika had the same colored pants like she wore but there were more sweat like. Her yellow neck ware was on and her top was pink that was sleeveless and exposed the stomach. Everyone else were in similar clothes but Miles who decided he could watch instead. They found Nicholas waiting in a dark tank top that hugged his muscled chest and exposed the muscled arms he had. His glasses and necklace were off and the guy had on sweats. On his fingers were black, fingerless gloves. “Hey there, ready to get the sweat in?” he asked with a grin.
The husky showed them he liked to work on the machines, the free weights, bench press, and then some exercises like pushups and crunches to round everything off. The others who were with him but Miles took turns on the things. Meika did more of the yoga thing in the corner to loosen up as that was one of her preferred ways to stay in shape. The vixen at times would steal glances at Nicholas in motion and found herself liking what she saw. It was just like at breakfast and made her blush and confused. Little did she know that the husky was also stealing glances at her as well. He blushed to but luckily nobody noticed this. Then when everyone was finished with their things, Nicholas called them to the edge of the ring in the middle of the workout room. “Now then, time for my last thing,” he stated and hoped up onto it.
“What would that be?” Tag asked.
“A way to practice fighting.” The guy lifted a panel on the arena floor to reveal an actual bo staff and katana sword. The male took the sword out first and slowly drew the shinning blade out from the seethe. The metal gleamed in the light.
“Please tell me that’s not real,” Meika stated with the same look she had when seeing Meelo was actually going to fight Krom last racing season.
“It’s a good workout,” the husky stated. “Plus it’s helped me get stronger.” He took a breath and took a ready stance. The others watched and the vixen crossed her arms disapprovingly. Nicholas began to move slowly, as though some kind of music was playing. It was almost like a dance. The blade moved with him, like an extension of his body. But then the male began to strike and move faster. Meika’s eyebrows went up in shock; the guy not only knew what he was doing, but it looked amazing. The others watched, surprised and impressed. Nicholas would even chain in kicks with his attacks. The guy even switched the blade to his left paw which was the non-dominate one and even did a reverse grip with both paws. The male then ended it with a shout and chop down after a few minutes of this. Nicholas let out a breath and put the katana back in the seethe and replaced the weapon with the staff.
The guy began to twirl it around to warm up and then began to strike and move like there was a dance going on. Like before, Nicholas began to move faster and strike at the same speed. It was amazing to watch. He would even switch the staff around to his left paw to. Now Meika was watching with wonder. “Wow, this is something,” Miles commented. He was enjoying this show. Then at last the husky came down with a shrike and shout after a few minutes had passed once again. He let out a breath and placed the staff away before bowing to the others. They all clapped.
“That was awesome!” Meika stated. “Had I known, I wouldn’t have said that before!”
“No offense Meika,” Nicholas replied. “I have to thank one of my friends who you’ll meet tomorrow. I was into fighting with weapons like that but thanks to her, I learned a bit more and got better. She’s a great sparring partner for me. That’s another reason why I need to keep up with this so she doesn’t kick my ass.”
“She?” Tag asked.
“Some of the greatest fighters and warriors were females. And my friend isn’t any different.” The guy then made sure the weapons were put away carefully after cleaning the katana. “Now then, there’s only one thing left to do. Practice my fighting technique. Anyone who wants to join is more than welcome to.”
“No thanks,” the tiger in the room replied. He remembered how the last time he was in an arena, Meika kicked his ass.
“You know, I might like to try,” Meelo said and got in with the husky.
“Care to help me by having a sparring session?”
“Why not?”
The others were surprised. Sure the chameleon had duked it out with Krom last racing season and held his own, but the husky had just shown he was a much better fighter than the big reptile. “This ought to be interesting,” Tag said.
The two males were now looking at the other in the arena, at the perfect starting distance. The husky was taller than Meelo and took a ready stance. “Ready when you are,” Nicholas said to the chameleon.
“He who moves first is the winner,” the shorter male commented. “But I won’t go first.”
“Suit yourself.” The husky suddenly dropped low but Meelo was able to move back to avoid the kick. Nicholas responded with two more in quick succession while getting back up to make sure the chameleon wouldn’t come in.
“My turn.” Meelo moved quickly around his opponent, trying to use his size and speed like with Krom. But Nicholas blocked every attempt, even when the guy tried to hit the pressure points with his fingers.
“I see now,” the husky said after they broke apart. “Your method is speed and fast attacks while using your opponent’s size against them. Also those strikes are meant to hit pressure points. It might work against big, dumb opponents. But not me.”
“Wow, you figured that out in such a short time,” Meelo commented. “And after such a short bought to.” He shrugged and began to leave the arena. “At least I know when I’m outmatched. I’m out.”
The others watching were surprised again. “He’s good,” Tamira said. “And surprising with Meelo.”
The chameleon left the arena to join the others. “Well now, anyone else?” Nicholas asked. “Maybe the ladies? I’ll go easy if they want.”
“I’m not sure…” Meika said.
“I promise unless it’s obvious you’re good.” He then got a teasing grin. “Unless you’re scared…”
“Ooooh,” Sonny chuckled. He then turned to the vixen. “Why don’t you show him how you box Meika?”
“You know what? I will,” she stated. She had her pair of boxing gloves with her and had brought them to this room. But there wasn’t a headguard. They were magenta in color. The vixen put them on and stepped into the ring. Nicholas was on her right with a smile. Meika put her paws up and did a few practice punches.
“Don’t worry, I won’t do shots to your head,” he told her.
“Don’t you want any gloves like mine?” she asked, getting the same kind of grin she had when boxing against Tag.
“Nah, I’ll be fine. Ready?” The vixen put her paws up and moved in without saying a word. She began to punch at Nicholas. He was grinning while blocking them or moving out of the way.
“Not bad! Quiet strong!” the husky stated. “Let’s see what you can do against me!” He began to attack himself and Meika was able to keep up. While Nicholas did punches and other types of strikes with his paws, he also did kicks to see how the vixen would cope. She did great and even began to use kicks herself.
The others watching were surprised, even Tamira by a little. Despite the pantheress having fought against Meika last racing season, this time the vixen was putting a bit more into the fight. “Has she always been able to fight like this?” Tag asked to Sonny.
“You’re asking the wrong person,” the bear replied.
Finally after a few minutes, Nicholas held up his right paw. “Enough!” he declared. “I think that will do. That was quiet good Meika.” She was breathing a bit hard but smiling.
“That was more fun than I’d thought it’d be!” the vixen stated. “We should do this again!”
“Same here.” The husky held out a fist and the two fist bumped. Meika then went off the arena area.
“How about it Tamira?” the male then asked. “Wanna have a round?”
“Hmmmm…” she replied and made her way up onto the space.
Tag was surprised again. The pantheress and husky were across from the other. “I’m ready…” she stated and took a ready stance.
“Music to my ears,” the male said and got ready himself.
For some seconds they didn’t move before the canine went in. Tamira was ready and the two exchanged elbows in addition to the punch and kicks. The others watching were shocked again. This time Nicholas seemed to actually be fighting, really going all out. Meelo and Meika before had been held back against. But Tamira quickly showed she was just as skilled as the husky in fighting. The guy was grinning and she even had a small smile. “Remind me to never pissed Tamira off,” Tag said to Miles who got a smirk on his beak.
The two were soon finished after Nicholas stated to stop like he had with Meika. “Well, that was something,” the pantheress said and held out her paw to him. “Good sparring.”
“And to you as well.” The two paws came together.
“Well time to clean up before dinner and then relaxing,” Nicholas stated as the two left the arena.
“That was awesome!” Meika stated with a big smile to the husky. “I think I even learned some new punches and kicks from watching that!”
“I’m glad you think so,” he answered back.
“Well now I know how I’ll get my aerobic exercises in!”
“I’ll be happy to box spar with you anytime we can.”
The group settled down to the dinner which would help rebuild the muscles and give them energy for the next day. After that Nicholas decided to play some of his video games to help relax. Sonny, Meika, Tag, Meelo, and even Tamira joined him but Miles decided to do his own thing. The vixen actually found what the husky had to play enjoyable as did Sonny. Tag joined in somewhat while the other two watched. Everyone went to bed and slept well. However, the next day Nicholas had to tell the group about the pool party. “My friends who are coming will be over at noon,” he explained. “We’ll have everyone meet and then we’ll head out to the back for it to beginning.”
“I’ve been ready for this since you mentioned it!” Sonny stated.
“This is going to be fun!” Meika said. They were looking forward to it for certain.

“That was more fun than I’d thought it’d be!” the vixen stated. “We should do this again!”
“Same here.” The husky held out a fist and the two fist bumped. Meika then went off the arena area.
“How about it Tamira?” the male then asked. “Wanna have a round?”
“Hmmmm…” she replied and made her way up onto the space.
Tag was surprised again. The pantheress and husky were across from the other. “I’m ready…” she stated and took a ready stance.
“Music to my ears,” the male said and got ready himself.
For some seconds they didn’t move before the canine went in. Tamira was ready and the two exchanged elbows in addition to the punch and kicks. The others watching were shocked again. This time Nicholas seemed to actually be fighting, really going all out. Meelo and Meika before had been held back against. But Tamira quickly showed she was just as skilled as the husky in fighting. The guy was grinning and she even had a small smile. “Remind me to never pissed Tamira off,” Tag said to Miles who got a smirk on his beak.
The two were soon finished after Nicholas stated to stop like he had with Meika. “Well, that was something,” the pantheress said and held out her paw to him. “Good sparring.”
“And to you as well.” The two paws came together.
“Well time to clean up before dinner and then relaxing,” Nicholas stated as the two left the arena.
“That was awesome!” Meika stated with a big smile to the husky. “I think I even learned some new punches and kicks from watching that!”
“I’m glad you think so,” he answered back.
“Well now I know how I’ll get my aerobic exercises in!”
“I’ll be happy to box spar with you anytime we can.”
The group settled down to the dinner which would help rebuild the muscles and give them energy for the next day. After that Nicholas decided to play some of his video games to help relax. Sonny, Meika, Tag, Meelo, and even Tamira joined him but Miles decided to do his own thing. The vixen actually found what the husky had to play enjoyable as did Sonny. Tag joined in somewhat while the other two watched. Everyone went to bed and slept well. However, the next day Nicholas had to tell the group about the pool party. “My friends who are coming will be over at noon,” he explained. “We’ll have everyone meet and then we’ll head out to the back for it to beginning.”
“I’ve been ready for this since you mentioned it!” Sonny stated.
“This is going to be fun!” Meika said. They were looking forward to it for certain.
