Lion King (1994) is one of Disney's highest grossing hand-drawn animated film; grossing in at $968.5 Million and one of the best selling VHS tapes of all time.
James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair; who voice Mufasa and Sarabi respectively, also played the King and Queen of Africa in the 1988 film "Coming to America". It's also worth noting that James Earl Jones will be reprising his role as Mufasa for the Live-Action Remake on July 19, 2019.
During developement Tommy Chong was originally going to be the voice for "Ed" (The third hyena), but couldn't be reached so he was replaced by Jim Cummings.
Jim Cummings filled in for Jeremy Irons (Voice of Scar) during the last third of the song "Be Prepared" due to the fact that Irons threw out his voice during recording.
The Wilderbeest stampede took Disney CGI Animators more than 2 years to create, they even had to write a new computer program to govern the herd's movements
More than 600 artists, animators and technicians contributed to The Lion King. It took more than one million drawings to complete the film, including 1,197 hand-painted backgrounds and 119,058 individually colored frames of film.
