The High Arctic Camel was a species Camelid that roamed the tundra and taiga forests of Canada and the Yukon about 12,000 years ago (Yes, North America had camels at one point. Very heavy, giant camels with thick fur).
It is believed that all other Camelid species are descended from the High Arctic Camel. As it's possible they migrated from Alaska to Russia, then into Eurasia, then finally into North Africa, and The Middle East. Via the Bering Land Bridge that existed around that time.
Noteable Facts;
* The High Arctic Camel more than twice the size the Dromedary Camel and almost as tall as a Reticulated Giraffe.
* Not all that much is known about it. (I couldn't even find all that much about it, let alone it's scientific name)
* In 2006, archaeologists found fossils of the High Arctic Camel that still contained collagen in Strathcona Fiord on Ellesmere Island in Nunavut, Canada!
