Hello boys and girls. This is what you might call, a pretty good attempt at an idea.
That said, I do really like this, I'm really proud of the bricks on the chimney and the stone fence, both cut out by hand (of course) and colour/texture put in behind. This is a very different style than usual for my papercuttings, but the picture really warranted its own custom style.
To save myself aweful moments of waiting for someone to tell me its crap- I'm not going to post the original painting I based this on.
I REALLY regret that NONE of the photos I took of this came out properly- This papercutting was cut with velum in the windows and then backlit. It actually lights up the sky to look like dawn/dusk, and all the windows light up. I really wish everyone could see it, it looks pretty darn good. I guess you'll just have to imagine.
If anyone is interested in a papercutting, let me know.

(yeah yeah not furry- but really all i'd have to do is stick a furry head in the window and it totally would be- so you can imagine if it makes you feel better :P)

Oh, cool, so it's back lit... Yeah, the flash kills the effect, but it looks really cool if it manages to get that back lighting. Did you also try to do the light that comes out of the windows and shines on the ground but isn't visible unless it's dim? I have no idea how you'd do that with a back light, though...
Looks good, though, it captures his style. >^.^<

Thanks hun! The painting I used as reference wasn't done at night, so there wasn't any reflection from the windows- there was an overall overcast look to the painting.
But the problem was, even taking out the flash, the lighted papercutting refused to show up better than a couple dull dots in a black field XD, so I suppose people will have to imagine it.

8O WOAH!!! Oh my gosh!!! How long did this take you?? Its FANTASTIC! Seriously, all the details in this are blowing me away right now.. I can only imagine how it looks backlit. Btw, that is an awesome idea, vellum has such a textured glass feel, such a neat dimension to introduce!
Ok ok, So first off, the textures are absolutely prefect.. with all the different textures layered on top of each other, it doesn't look cluttered at all. Did you draw the lines on the roof? I absolutely adore the uneven lines, it looks so natural! Secondly, the ripped paper edges for the trees is absolutely stunning, its such a great contrast to the straight lines of the house and has the freedom of nature that, imho, Kincaid can't even capture as well. Leaving the bits of ripped paper (mulberry?) by the holes in the trees and bushes is a really, really nice detail. It adds so much dimension (literally) and makes it look like bits of sunshine are shining through them and off of them! Third of all, and I may be repeating myself, FANTASTIC! :D

Thank you! I spent the usual amount of time picking out the papers- about an hour! I go to a local paper store called "the paper place", it sells exotic papers- i usually end up using a lot of japanese papers as they usually are the most amazing for textures and colours. I actually picked out all the papers and ended up leaving them in the mall bathroom an hour later X(. I had to pick them out and pay for them all over again. I spend a lot of time carefully picking out the papers for some of these- particularly for this one.
So none of the texture is drawn. <3 those papers are pretty cool eh?
Thank you so much for all the lovely comments. I thought this was kinda sub-par, as it wasn't at all what i envisioned in my head, but i set the bar pretty high when i started. I did like the different techniques i used in this one to save my sanity- like tearing the paper instead of cutting it for the natural parts. I'd tell you what kind of paper the different plants are, but they're all japanese names i can't remember XD. Apparently the owner of the store i go to knows some of the families in japan, so i'm pretty sure some of the papers are exclusive. *giggles* its amazing being able to shop there.
*huggles* thank you so much for the comments. Especially the details. <3

So this is papercut! Actually, it looks pretty good, (to me anyway.) Say, is this the technique Blitzen Trapper used for their Furr video?
Its actually a combination of different techniques and a KIND of papercutting. Mainly a form of collage I'd say.
I do a lot of different things with papercuttings- feel free to look around my gallery- I've done everything from furry profiles, to pokemon characters, to non furry stuff.
