Collines Verdes Pokédex #25: Golchik.
In the rolling, beautiful southern hill country of Collines Verdes, one can find many Flying-Type Pokémon, with one of the most prevalent locally adored varieties being the small, inquisitive Golchik. The vibrantly-colored plumage of the little Pokémon is much beloved, appearing in regional artwork and crafts to the point that many people consider the tri-colored Pokémon something of a living mascot for the hill country.
Though it may not readily look like it, Golchik is actually a Flying/Fire-type, capable of generation showers of vibrant sparks with its metallic claw tips, as well as puffs of vibrant blue-white flame from its beak. Normally found in the wild in family groups, it's easy to find their nesting grounds simply by following the smell of scorched grass and the sound of squawking and squabbling.
Though they may appear cute, they can be temperamental, and are often known to kick, scratch and peck when annoyed. Their fiery spirit is matched only by their natural curiosity in all things, the small birds prone to getting into places they normally shouldn't. It's this naturally inquisitive nature that makes them rather easier to catch than they might seem at first glance, as they often come to investigate Trainers in their territory.
They are a common farmyard sight, used as much for their eggs as for their habit of chasing away troublesome Pokémon and vermin that might cause trouble for other farmyard animals. A properly trained Golchik is a formidable partner, but one has to earn their respect before they'll give any battle their all.

LustBubbles for my tabletop Pokémon concept.
And before anyone says it: Yes, I am aware Sword and Shield are set in a more traditional "Europe" setting. I've been working on my tabletop concept for years; several years before Sun and Moon came out, and I don't intend to incorporate anything from the official game. Nor do I intend to stop working on my own project, despite the fact that at this point there are official Pokémon that sync up to the extensive 'Dex I've made for my own project. This is my own thing, and I enjoy it. I hope other people do as well. I may find a place for some of the new-gen 'Mon, but it's unlikely.
