So June is Pride Month (happy Pride, by the way!), and what better way to celebrate than to introduce your new fursona and their sexuality and gender! So Echo here is pansexual and gender-nonbinary (pronouns are they/them). I'm super happy about this one, even though I kinda stole the face from my previous upload of Echo haha.
Echo's pansexuality is represented by their eyes and the bracelet, meanwhile their gender is represented by the background's color scheme. I wanted to put a lot more emphasis on the gender-nonbinary colors, and there is a reason for doing so.
For a few years now, I've made it very clear that I'm a bonafide pansexual. However, my gender hasn't always been very clear to me.
Until now, that is.
I've always felt out of the gender binary, neither feeling masculine or feminine. Some times, it's a mix of both, other times it's nothing at all. I have done a lot of experimenting and thinking during these past few years. At first, I had a feeling that I was really meant to be a male. Then I thought about being male/female gender fluid. Those ideas died out fast though, since again, I had feelings of being neither male or female. Also, let me just throw in the fact that I joined two separate dating sites, only to asked by numerous people if I was either a boy or a girl. Even one sent me a message asking if I was transitioning from male to female. I still have no idea if it's my face, the way I dressed, or who knows what, all of it triggered a bunch of messy, unnecessary confusion. I was confused about myself, the way I looked, dressed, acted, etc.
I've given it a lot of thought since last year's Pride. I just don't conform to anything. To me, genders really just do not matter.
So here we are now. Gender-nonbinary. Simple, easy, nonbinary.
Sorry for rambling on, I just have a history of figuring out who I really am.
Let's get back to the actual art piece. Since Echo is a representation of me, I've decided to make my coming out statement through this latest drawing. Makes sense, right?
Also can we just say how beautiful that black alcohol marker is like UNNF FUCK ME THAT IS A BRILLIANT SHADE OF BLACK
Art and character by me~
