It’s taken me years to finally accept my life as a trans person. Ever since the age of 12, I started realizing that something about me didn’t feel right. Since I was a kid I very much considered myself a tomboy, loved playing sports and roughhousing, and hated feminine clothing. And, because I was a child, I just assumed I was a bit odd, but it wasn’t intolerable. I wasn’t the only girl that was like that and it was fine.
As I got older, everyone started to grow up and become more comfortable with their femininity, but that growth never seemed to happen to me. If anything, I became more and more uncomfortable with the thought of any sort of association with my body being female and it was terrifying.
To summarize, I considered myself non-binary between the ages of 14 and 18/19. The past couple of years in college made me realize who I really was, and I was no longer afraid to admit to myself that I was a guy. That I didn’t have to be scared anymore because I had found a community who would accept me 💗
