Have any tips on how to achieve this smooth look? Cuz I'm a fatass (and purroud) but I am working on losing weight. I wish to own form fitters some day, as none of my characters bar my sona are considered fluffy/longpiled, and I'd rather not fuck it up seven ways to Sunday.
Sorry for the late response. ^^;
When I started this one, I was lucky in that my bodysuit hoarding paid off. I had pieces from 2-3 older bodysuits of this character. Some were made by eyeing it/measurements, and others with a DTD. I decided to use those to get the perfect fit, and just repeatedly trying them on and off to cut down or add in certain areas where I needed more or less fabric to fit. Then once I was satisfied, I took it apart and traced those pieces onto my fur.
In that same sense, I'd recommend making a "first" bodysuit out of really cheap fabric like cotton, polyester or fleece, so that you can keep sewing and nicking at areas without worry until you can get the best fit. Then, take it all apart at the seams, and trace them onto your fur.
Mine isn't perfect, as there's still some annoying spots I messed up on. But I'm doing my best to fix them.
One more note, if you want the suit to line up with your back instead of just pulling flat over your butt, you either have to pattern your suit in the same way you'd pattern a dress (4 pieces minimum that contort like an hourglass) or add several pleats to the back (diamond shapes are what I used for mine) so that chunks can be cut out and sewn back up.
One lasssst thing. If you have wide hips with a not too low reaching zipper on your stomach, you'll probably have to add a zipper to your hip so you can open it up to fit it over your hips. You can follow the seam on your leg. I had to do this with a previous suit of mine, but thankfully this time the zipper was long enough on the belly to where it just barely slips over my hips with a little wiggling.
