The Kauaʻi ʻōʻō was a nectarivorous song bird that was found exclusively on Kauaʻi Island, Hawaii which became extinct in the year 1987 due to habitat loss, introduction of new species, and exposure to new diseases like avian malaria and avian pox.
Note-able facts;
*Unlike most extinct animals I drawn in the past few days, the sounds this bird made have been recorded and archived in a few different medias. The very last known individual, a lone male sitting on a branch calling out for a mate... that never came.

* The Kauaʻi ʻōʻō belongs to a family of nectar feeding birds called, Mohoidae. All of which unfortunately are extinct as well.
*The Kauaʻi ʻōʻō was socially monogamistic (mated for life).
