I'd been dreaming when I woke on the morning of the first of June. I dreamt that the month had been designated a special month for tigers (there was some clever alliterative name for it, but I don't remember it), and many of my favorite artists had special commission prices for tiger art. Alas, when I woke up, I realized it was only a dream, but it did remind me that there has been a lot of art I've commissioned that I never got around to posting. So, in honor of Pride month, every weekend day in June, I'll be posting an older commission that's new to my gallery.
Ok, so this isn't a commission, but it _is_ from last year, when I had the opportunity to go visit some of my ancestral brethren in the jungles of Asia.
It was an amazing trip and really let me connect with my wilder side. There were a group of monkeys that were watching me suspiciously from the trees as I explored my natural habitat, but sadly I wasn't able to meet any other of my own kind. That wasn't incredibly surprising; there are estimated to be fewer than 4,000 tigers in the wild throughout the entire world.
So hug a tiger if you get a chance, but also look to minimize the impact of your paw prints on the planet by reducing your energy consumption, avoiding the use of products like palm oil or plastics that lead to deforestation, and above all, rejecting traditional remedies and "medicines" that poach tigers and other endangered species for parts. That will mean that tigers like me can continue to roam jungles like this one for many years to come.
