Slimes may not be regarded as a particularly fierce or threatening part of the dungeon ecosystem, but in large numbers they are indeed more than capable of overpowering and assimilating unassuming adventurers foolish enough to underestimate these colourful little blobs...

Broadly, no, but I can't think of a time I've seen it done like this. I like the slimes bunching up like that but not immediately melding together like you did in the second part. The end result is more in line with what you refer to, but still having slime blobs cropping up here and there is really fun.
Just fun to imagine not only having your body converted to slime, but said-slime being built out of a lot of individual, visually distinct blobs. They probably enjoy having someone more solid to cling to and mold around for a bit. Meanwhile the wizard's newly shared body would take a lot of getting adjusted to.
