The S-37 (Su-47) was developed for Soviet heavy aircraft-carrying cruisers. They did not have steam catapults. The reverse sweep of the wing creates additional lift for the aircraft, but vibrations in the wings appear at high speeds. The twisting moment. Because of this, the C-37 project was closed. Only one "Berkut" was built.
Prototypes for this aircraft:
- S-37 (Su-47)
- MiG-23

The Soviet aircraft carriers did not have steam catapults (only the new aircraft carrier Ulyanovsk was to receive catapults), so aircraft designers were looking for the design of the aircraft with great lift (ascensional power).
S-37 (Su-47) it was one of the projects. I just added a variable wing geometry like the MiG-23 or Su-17.
But our engineers found a more interesting and technologically advanced solution - the Su-33 and Mig-29K.
