Warning this recipe makes a TON! I tend to make a lot when I cook. This would have actually made more than what is pictured but I saved a lot of the stuffing to make a meatloaf for a roommate that doesn't like tomato sauce and I ate a lot of cabbage plain. xD
2 heads of cabbage (possibly 3 depending on the size)
2 lb of ground beef
3 cups cooked (and cooled) white rice
1 can of tomato soup
2 cans of plain tomato sauce
Marjoram, Basil, Oregano (Just a few pinches of each)
Crushed beef bullion
Chopped Garlic (3-4 cloves)
Set oven to 300.
In a large mixing bowl mix together the ground beef, rice, spices, some of the bullion, garlic. Honestly, its easiest to mix it all with your hands. Make sure its all nice and mixed.
This site was really awesome at explaining on how to prepare the cabbage and stuff the leaves. They have a different recipe, so if you like the sound of that one better, by all means. But the one I use is pretty much close to the one I grew up with but with a few small changes added.
Once the leaves are stuffed place them in rows in a baking pan with high sides. Cover the cabbage rolls with the soup and sauce and sprinkle a small amount of the bullion over it, don't add any water. If you like more sauce add more sauce or canned soup over it. Cover with foil and bake for 3-4 hours. Basically till the insides of the rolls are cooked completely.
Now there are two ways I serve this. When I have company I cover them with melted mozzarella or just parmesan. When alone I cut them open and pour white vinegar all over them.
Also I wanted to note this is all off the top of my head. I last made this a month ago and just now go around to typing it all up. :)
