I'm impressed with the contrast of the futuristic details with the very retro-conservative furnishings. I have seen modern apartments like that.

The idea we discussed was that the FS, being a young society, is trying to come up with its own history, look, experience. You can say it still apes a lot from the SI, as many came from there, and a bit from the old Earth, though those who even know of that planet are quickly becoming few and far in between. Since many of the SI worlds the FS captured and incorporated were agrarian societies that were forced into industrialization, they bring not only the skills and appreciation for more natural furniture but also a desire to balance the sometimes harsh and metal-cold urban environment with the warmth of nature. Kinda the same reason IKEA is so big on wood and other natural materials furniture.

Tying things up, some of the furniture in this room could have come from A'Haria.

Very lovely detail...I'd have never taken this for Rusty's work...wow...he really was quite the versatile artist...
