Commission for GoodGirlQuinn
The early days of game shows were wild, and people never believe me when I tell them--But, there was this program around the end of the 60's that originally just involved various products like frozen dinner brands, or plaid overalls being pitched to three suits in chairs across the room. It was like the cartoon idea of a boardroom pitch, but being played totally serious.
Either way, being the late 60's and there still not existing a whole lot of programs to grab peoples attention, people settled on this milquetoast idea for long enough for it to get interesting. A couple seasons in and this enormously tall, and hilariously hefty bear joined the cast, I think her name was Clover or something. It seemed like she barely understood spoken English, let alone business acumen, but it quickly became apparent she would basically approve of literally any food product so long as the prospective businesslad or businesslass brought enough for her to eat.
My favorite episode was when this adorable poodle gal, Quinn, from "Good Girl Sweets, the finest baked goods, baked by good girls" brought on these adorable novelty cupcakes that had little dog faces. She handed Clover a cupcake, which quickly turned into a request for another, and another, and another. The behemoth bear kept coaxing more and more cupcakes out of this poor poodle, but to her credit every single time she had more to give. By the end of the 20 minutes (Excluding the commercial breaks for toothpaste with shockingly high amounts of asbestos proudly listed on the label) she had gotten so large her clothes started tearing off and her co-hosts tried to stifle a sort of giddy curiosity.
I swear it's true. And if I dreamt it, then I can only hope it's true--I really wanna watch that episode again.
