The wise mystic of the distant lands, no less talented for his young age.
An incredible adopted character made by

Arcain !
This is Akyr, a talented young magician learning his role in the spiritual guidance of his people, the Sha'jir.
His name doesn't translate well to the common tongue, it being a word for a very specific concept in his own language. It could be said to mean "The moment of true balance between warm light and cool darkness, where both see the equality of the other in bringing both life and death, and harmonize." It also evokes certain emotions of acceptance and hope, knowing life will go on.
Most people find it much easier to simplify his translated name to "Balance." XD
He's generally a more peaceful fellow, preferring to find an amicable solution where he can. It's partly a matter of hating untimely death, but in all honesty he's also just not the fighting type. Violence isn't in his blood, and while he is capable of killing, it is usually in the context of rituals or of great need, such as ending the suffering of one who cannot be saved. In conflict, he tends to use his magic to bewilder and harry his foes, frightening or subduing them rather than outright ending their lives.
Outside of these conflicts, his magic is used for utility, storytelling, and aiding others. He's still learning how to perform the stronger spells, and is always seeking to expand his repertoire with new ways to assist and instruct. He does have quite an affinity for fire, but is currently learning how to use magic to augment his skill with herbs and healing techniques.
While adorned in gold and silks, Akyr is not strictly a wealthy person. His clan possesses a fair level of wealth, but the garb he wears is largely of ceremonial significance, the gold he is adorned in symbolizing purity and carefully-wrought balance. The gemstones represent clarity, both in mind and in voice, reinforcing his role as an authoritative speaker in spiritual matters. And the color of the silks, matching that of his raw magical energy, is deeply symbolic of his connection to the spirit world, the walls between but a thin veil to one in his position.
Akyr is also a musician at heart, practicing with voice and ocarina alike during his meditations and at times throughout the day. Music is powerful, able to weave magic, tell tales, and stir the hearts of others to action or rest. It is also quite pleasing to the soul, and his dedication to the art is far beyond what his vocation requires. He enjoys the music of the world, and adding his own to it.
The symbols that appear on his body are natural, not painted on, but are certainly a rare and auspicious mark. They show his destiny as a spiritual leader of his clan, both a promise of greatness and a reminder of duty. But they also mark the significance of his position to others of the Sha'jir, and only the most arrogant of his species would refuse a mystic their due respect.
I fell in love with this golden boy from the first moment I saw him. Such a gorgeous and unique design, and I'm such a fan of fluffy dragon-bird creatures! X3
His colors are so stunning, with the gorgeous contrasts and fades of light and darkness, along with the patterns and stripes all over his body! So fitting for a creature of balance. All the pretty feathers in his crest and wings are so cute, the poof on his tail is adorable, and the whole design of his body and stance is so heckin' great. And those pretty eyes, I love those kinds of eyes!
And what an outfit he's got on to, so delicate and elegant, pretty without being gaudy. Every little accessory and shiny is so absolutely perfect for him, it fits so naturally.
I fell in love at first glance, and every subsequent sneak peek only brought him closer to my heart. I'm so glad for a chance to give him a good home and lots of adventures! Efsher and Wervus did such an incredible job designing him! <3
Akyr will be showing up in some of my writing projects, so keep an eye out for when I get around to doing them! ;3
