Very moving. I can't help but vaguely think you watched V for Vendetta at one point. :) It makes me wonder what kind of 'monster' he is supposed to be.

As for the kind of monster he was supposed to be? He used to be one of the most hated and feared super villain of that world

Oh well, just the feel of it, I guess, plus the ending sounded like the time when they blew up the Prime Minister's building.

That's kinda cool though -- didn't realize he was a super villian.

tthat's ok. it's not like I say it in the story.

he was the worst kind of super villain possible.

a smart, intelligent and completely sane one. He saw the danger the world was in and was willing to take the steps needed, no matter how horrible, to save it.

he knew he was being a monster while doing that.

I liked it. 'Short but sweet', as they say.

I never claimed to write happy endings all the time :)

it is a priceless piece. small and powerful. it shows the human monster and even better yet it is like a window into all of our lives. we are plagued with difficult and maybe even almost monstrous choices. when we feel trapped there seems to be no good answer all we can do is shoulder the burden we have created and march on with our lives. for better or worse. and hope that in the end we will be able to make a better choice available for either ourselves or our fellow people.

maybe i am a bit loony, but that is what i get from it.
