From the movie Starship Troopers. the M.I is the Mobile Infantry, although the movie barely follows the 1950's novel Starship Troopers, upon which it was supposedly based. Look at wikipedia entry for more informations.

Gah! All of you need to read the original novel. NOW. It was a highly intelligent, serious, and FANTASTIC piece of science fiction... compared to that goofball movie. Plus, the powered armor wasn't well represented in the movie..
