That's something I've really wondered about myself because I sort of liked the non-synced animal speech in Princess Mononoke- it really drove home that the animals weren't human and captured the strangeness of hearing say a parrot speak. Birds are super difference from canines and boar obviously, but I imagine if they could speak it wouldn't necessarily look the same as a human mouth since it's a totally different shape.

Aaaa, I really do love this page. That gradual transition of Mort's features is just perfect, and that SHADOW. Really fantastic work, one of my favorite pages.
