I don't know why but I'm liking the overgrown furball quite a lot.

For a vore-predator monster, he's got a ton of personality and a very detailed, complex backstory. It's a pleasant break from all the mindless eating machines the subculture churns out. Mort's anything but mindless.

You got to admit, the giant hairball's got style. Also quite unlike most villainous fictional predators, Mort is outclassed by no-one.

Well, the dude was intending to kill him, and even stabbed him in the mouth. I doubt too many people would let that go.

To be fair, he thought he was going in to kill a badger, maybe a small bear, not some giant honking fire demon that was smart enough to bait a honey pot trap. And the stab to the mouth was pure self defense - he was being mauled at the time. When you're looking at the abyss yawning in front of you you do what you gotta do to live. Mort's being a dick, but that's how Mort rolls. ^.^

Kind of hard to parley with someone you tried to kill, however ineffectively.

One thing I'd suggested to  lemondeer as an alternate scenario was if, when Noah discovered Mort was sapient, to have immediately thrown away the knife and told him he was tricked. The likely result, however, would have been the same. "Hey, free breakfast just arrived in my den! Thanks, goblins!" *nom*

But he didn't and now he's got a really big problem. The irony is, so does Mort. If he wants that amulet so badly, then dispatching Noah (for the third time) means he's gonna have to shanghai some other poor sot to handle it for him. Good luck with that, Mort.

Ooooh dear, heheh...sounds like someone is about to get screwed, with a list of their wrong doings. I'd honestly laugh if someone who tried to harm me, and also did wrong TO me, tried to suddenly save face. Kinda pathetic, and a bit too late to make nice, little squirt.

They're fucking majestic, dude. You did a good job. Just need a flaming gay Kobold voiced by Harvey Feirstein to come out of the back of the cave and be like "Mort! Mort! It's time for ya weekly pedicure!"

...It just struck me how hilarious it would be if Noah had found the knife on the floor while we were focused on Mort. Mort goes for the gulp and Noah gives him another gum-jab.

These angles do a great job of making Noah look extra small and weak and pathetic.
