This was a project I was asked to do years ago, unforutnately I couldn't get in contact with the people that lent me their antique carousel horse to paint because they reciently moved to Germany.
But anyways, I'm proud of the work. This horse is painted to look like "Bucephalus" or the favorite horse of Alaxender the Great as depicted in the Alaxander Mosiac in Pompeii: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:B.....ic-detail1.jpg
So far I think it's one of the only carousel horses that are painted to resemble Alaxander's horse, I personaly think it has a nice Neoclassical touch, it should fit right in with other 1800's revivalist aniques. It's also one of the few times I've painted a real 3D object. If you look closely you could see my Egyptian signature for "Rimpala", which consequently would be a very "arts-and-crafts movement" thing to do. Eee, I just love art history!
I hope I can get it to them within the next month, the horse is very fragile because the wood has suffered termite damage at one point in it's life. It has reciently fell and has chipped paint around the neck (of which I photoshoped out). I'll have to touch it up and possibly give it a protective clear coat so it doesn't happen again.
