There was a story of a corrupt Sullustan law enforcement official grew greedy after arresting a wealthy criminal while being paid a meagre official salary and increasingly turned to crime himself. Because of his considerable experience with law enforcement and knowledge of the criminal underworld, the Sullustan was able to earn a considerable living engaged in a variety of crimes: smuggling, graft, and even extortion. His knowledge of law enforcement procedures and techniques coupled with his insider knowledge of the criminal underworld allowed him to amass a considerable fortune.
But all things end, and eventually this double-dealing officer of the law was exposed for his crimes. But by the time this officer's fellows had assembled to arrest him, he fled offworld using an assumed identity. Soon, he was on Coruscant restarting his criminal empire. He assembled a band of outlaws, many of whom he knew of from his law enforcement days, and went into the business of professional abduction and kidnapping. They operated discreetly: never targeting prominent officials such as Senators or others who might attract the attention of law enforcement, or worse, the Jedi. Consequently, the organisation succeeded in largely evading the notice of authorities on Coruscant, and because it operated in the Coruscant undercity, there was no ability to pursue them.
It was only the efforts of a local protection organisation that served as surrogate law enforcement in the Coruscant undercity that managed to bring down the gang. They were able to pool their resources to hire an offworld bounty hunter to bring in the gang and its leader. And along his way, the formidable bounty hunter was aided by a Coruscant police officer who was tired of seeing gangs operate in the undercity with impunity. Together, the two of them would turn in the gang's leader for a considerable bounty, worth more dead than alive.
The reptilian bounty hunter soon left Coruscant, though not before he'd turned in half of a very generous bounty to the organisation which had hired him.
