This is a map detailing the alternate world for the anthropomorphic setting of my "Maverick Hotel" series. For those who haven't read the first chapter, the United States dissolved into two rivaling powers: the Devout States of America (an imperialist, single-party theocracy) and the Western Republic (a secularist, direct democracy referred to as 'the Immoral States' by the DSA).

The Second American Civil War began in 1997 after the ultra-religious Revenant Party had endured a sixteen-year-long dominance in presidential elections. Now, following years of slowly reforming public opinion to embrace Christian fundamentalism, the Revenant Party restructured the nation into a theocratic republic dubbed the 'Devout States of America'. Some states, most of them the last bastions of Democratic, Libertarian, and conservative politicians of the former Republican Party, responded to the administration's branching abuse of power by seceding together to form their own nation: The Western Republic.
