Stephen is a pure and innocent cinnamomo roll from the isle of Hermea, a breeding project started by the gold dragon Mengkare as a social experiment to create the perfect human, or in the case of our game, the perfect Hound. (Humans are anthro dogs in our game) Mengkare's idea of the perfect hound, apparently, is a houndtaur.
Stephen's father was one of the greatest magical minds in Hermea, and as with all great Hermean minds, his consciousness was placed into a book that now contains all of his memories and knowledge; A Hermean Living Tome.
Stephen grew up hearing stories of high adventure, of heroes that went out and slayed evil monsters to save beautiful princes and princesses, and he longed to go out on adventures like the ones he'd read about. He trained in the art of the sword and spell, though his martial focus was more on protecting others than defeating foes, and when he achieved knighthood he saw his chance to escape the confinement of the Isle of Hermea to go out and become a real hero. He took his father and snuck onto a ship leaving the island, it's destination: Katapesh.
Stephen sought out the Pathfinder Society, an organization of adventurers that he had heard of many times, but when he found his first Lodge in Katapesh - the Sueda Lodge - he found it vacant. Anizhar and party had business near the lodge, and so they used their ability to travel between any two doors open to the outside to simply step out of the Sueda Lodge and ran right into Stephen.
Initially he ran, terrified of Sebastian for some reason, but Anizhar's quick thinking and silver tongue convinced him to stop his flight and give our group a second chance, though he remained wary of Sebastian. We found out that Hermeans abroad are sworn to return any lost Hermeans they run across to the island, to ensure their safety, and Stephen had though that Sebastian was from the island, seeing as he was a 'taur as well. Sebastian explained that he was from Numeria, a land far from Hermea, and that he had no intention of repatriating him. When we explained that we were starting an adventuring guild of our own, Stephen was eager to join - making him the first Junior member of The Wayfarers Guild.
Since then Stephen has proven himself quite the capable warrior. His training as a Shield Magus has proven useful in protecting the more delicate members of our group, and his ability to consult his father on matters both historical and arcane has given us surprising insight. With his help, the Wayfarers solved a kidnapping and shut down one of the most problematic guilds in Katapesh - the One Source - and sent their benefactor on a long ship ride to the Plane of Leng with the Captain of the Sunset Ship.
Stephen's design is originally based on ColeSutra's character by the same name.
