Screenshots from an old forgotten Gameboy game...
...Not! So while i've been fooling around with Aseprite's Gameboy Color pallet, I decided to test myself by making a fake screenshot like I did with the Powser's Minions screenshot. Only difference this time is that I would build all assets myself which to be honest was an easy task considering it was Gameboy. First came the general idea which was a weight gaining platformer. For the protagonist I decided to use one of
kyte-sayban's Seiyu Dragons. Due to gameboy limitations I couldn't really do much to make it distinct as to who you're playing as so the sprite I created represents a non-specific Seiyu dragon, its up to the player's imagination on if they're playing as Ryuga, Accele, or as a completely different Seiyu altogether.
Next came the canvas. Since I wanted to stay as genuine as possible, the entire thing was constructed on a 160x144 canvas. The screenshots shown here are increased in size by 200% to make it easier on the eyes. After this came the tricky part of the canvas. As its known, the Gameboy has a pallet of four green colors, as well as emulation replaces this with a greyscale palette.
After all this preperation came the assembly. I creates all the tiles on a 16x16 canvas and placed them within the canvas as I built a level. One stage being an intro valley stage, and the other being a cavern with a platforming focus. After all that was done I decided to create the game over screen as a last minute thing.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy my work, and it would be neat if this was an actual game but sadly it isn't, just a concept.
