Throughout the worlds spanning all of creation, there exist places within that hold a certain draw to many individuals. For most, they would cite the scents and scenery as the main draw to such places--a combination of delights for the senses, mixing together and instilling a sense of longing or nostalgia. Others yet would remark on the isolation--the calm--of such places, and how it imparts a sense of peace and order to their turbulent lives. Finally there are a lucky few who know such places for their true potential, and quietly seek them out for their own personal use.
One such place, for example, is called "Firmament's Rest" by the local populace. During daylight hours it appears to be nothing more than a small pond--and a pleasant one at that--but when night falls and the clouds part, a sea of stars can be seen shimmering upon its flat surface! The trunks of the surrounding trees trail downward into infinity--as straight and stately as pillars in a hallowed cathedral. And yet why is all this so special? Surely there are other bodies of water within this copse, all equally capable of reflecting a night sky? What sets Firmament's Rest apart from the rest is the pull it seems to have on the visitor--almost as if a fey presence were trying to drag you within its depths. This sensation is at times so strong as to be felt by normal individuals! Hearing of such accounts on Firmament's Rest, Bruvelighe instantly and unmistakably pieced together its true function.
You see...while most others might mistake reflected starlight on a pond as the night sky, Firmament's Rest does exactly that: it blends the fabric of space and distills all that it reflects beneath its surface. Normally a warpjaw like Bruve can navigate his way through the stars by "hearing" with his ears, projecting his senses across limitless distances...seeking places, people, and things--all to supply direction and motive for his meandering. But it's not a perfect method. His projections can only impart an approximation of what he seeks; recreating an image or sensation--pale imitations of the actual things. It's similar to how you would recall a scene played out in a dream versus reality; one is simply the fug of an uncertain memory, while the other is a solid recollection. The fidelity between the two is markedly vast.
Thus, Firmament's Rest.
The stars displayed on its surface are actually there, ripe for the touch. A creature like Bruve can simply reach out his hand and distend his presence to any star within reach! With a mere press of a clawtip he can surveil all the worlds arrayed before him, now with the undiluted fidelity of all his senses. Sitting in the dark, lantern by his side and the surrounding forest pressing about him, the warpjaw unfurls his invisible wings and sets to flight--for this evening, he is a tiny god by a tiny pond~

Damn, so this piece is a colored drawing by
Seyorrol who's known for their rather complex pieces, the kind that the eye just loves to soak up. Their pieces are typically jam packed with an impressive amount of tiny detail, accompanied with fantastic scenery and backgrounds. It all just kind of melds together in something wonderful and...whimsical, I want to say? Honestly I can't really describe or do justice to their work adequately, so I highly suggest you give their gallery a gander~
