Untitled Poem (contemporary verse)
Here's a longer poem i've been working on lately, inspired by the animalistic symbols of the Native Americans I grew with. The more I practice, the more I see I'm not quite aquainted with english poetry yet, so by all means, if you see something you think I should change/improve, be sure to comment below, leave a shout or a note ;)
Enjoy!
In quiet night
moonlight reveals
the laugh lines of trees ― buried
in their wake
the silence
says the owl
brings
to your heart
what's not hidden - yet
you failed to see
what's not muffled - yet
you failed to hear
hush-hush
says the moth
the tree's speech is soundless
so greet them with mute ecstasy
for their friendship has no price
for their kind has no age
then smile back at the trees
says the coyote
for without them there would be
no conversation
for without them you wouldn't breath
air filled with ancestrious awe.
Enjoy!
