The tension in the room was like you could cut through it with a knife. "Now Mr. Semenov, you know that hovering that giant metal sphere arcing massive bolts of electricity over the west coast is nothing short of an act of war. You will either tell your guys back home to take it down or we will be forced to take necessary action."

"I dont know what this sphere is, we didn't put it there. Whatever it is, wherever it came from, it's not ours. And I will not sit here and just listen to your threats, the soviet socialist republics will not accept your-"

Suddenly the door burst open and a man ran in, "The sphere, it's gone! It exploded!" he said, almost shouting, the entire room stood up in confusion. "Something shot it down! The observatory described it as a giant glowing winged creature appearing out of nothing, followed by a bright flash of light. W-We dont know what it was, but the sphere was destroyed!"

The men in the room looked at each other across the table, confused, was he joking? He couldn't be. What on earth was going on here?
