It's Red Crater from Mount Tongariro in New Zealand :) It's volcanic rock, and there's emerald ponds not far from it.
I've done a few hikes in New Zealand that I really enjoyed, and got this and one of Routeburn commissioned. Here's one inspired by the mountain saddle at Routeburn.
