Yeah, i could have told him that a dragon that size would not be able to fly with him atop.
At least he took my advice for the melee weapon to use. A knife. So he can throw it or play gravity darts. And. If boarded. Actually defend himself.
I still have to understand all those people that really like to use a sword though.
I mean when dragon riding the obvious choice of weapon is the dragon.
So i think the best dragon riders are not those knights in shiny armour that make the dragon unable to fly... or just... you know.. try and use their sword when the dragon impedes them with a very long wingspan and neck.
But those who can inspire the dragon and enhance its skills and occasionally heal it. Soooo yeah. The best dragon riders are the D&D bards. 🤣😂👍💖
