An old drawing depicting the characters Steel Compass and Platinum Sahuaro
On the Left, is the character known as Steel Compass, who was heavily inspired by the old film serial Spy Smasher and the aviation books The Red Falcon:The Dare-Devil Aces Years.
She is a a wartime vigilante that flies, 'Obsidian Bullet' a fearsome Black Bi-Plane. Having no alliance to any nation she still strives to protect the innocent, she is relentlessly hunted by all the world powers and pursued by Sky Bandits and the mysterious Fountainhead and her army of mechanical monsters.
On the right is Platinum Sahuaro, a mask vigilante and White Hatter that is inspired by the Lone Ranger, Singing Cowboys like Gene Autry and Eddie Dean and the 1944 Republic serial 'Zorro's Black Whip', which was a series that didn't have the rights to use the character Zorro but wanted to capitalized on the success of 'The Mark of Zorro'.
She is the second Platinum Sahauro to wear the cactus. Her predecessor, the original Platinum Sahuaro was a well-known White Hatter that rode across the wild frontier dealing Justice while also known for carrying a guitar and yodeling. Taking up the mantel has been a difficult task, for the title hold such weight that the other mask vigilantes, White Hatters and rivals alike respect the name that they don't see her as a worthy successor and thus go out of their way to keep the original legacy alive.
