i wonder?
in this universe, do canids bear the same (or greater) senses they do IRL?
(if so, then did canines in this universe also develop techniques to throw-off their cohorts' enhanced senses?)
maybe the aliens were trying to heal ben saunders from some accident he had?
for, wouldn't it had been easy for them to simply kill him off, or to had employed their presumèd advanced technology to come up with another, much more pernicious, stealth method of sn'aking onto planet earth a vector for some alien biological-mischief?
