I love Gears and I love Halo- just saying spartans aside I think the COG soldiers would rape the UNSC.
But then again you got the Halo 1 Pistol, and the space bound Mac guns sorta =/= hammer of dawn, though you got that whole satellite/weather restrictions that the macs seemingly don't have so.... It's really up in the air in my book when you take spartans out of the picture..
My opinion on BOTH series based off Reach and Gears 3 = Friggin Amazing!
I don't know what makes games like Battlefield and Medal of Honor so appealing- they are just like less shitty versions of CoD to me.. One has vehicle play and destructive environments while the other is literally just a better counterpart to CoD....

Ah they're both equally horrible really. The UNSC is trying to start a civil war amongst the Elites due to unending paranoia and is siding with the faction that hates humanity for...reasons I'm STILL not certain of.
Meanwhile, each and every time COG command orders something major to be done they actually make things WORSE somehow. Unleash kill sats on the locust, they go back underground to regroup where they can't be easily followed and end up torching most of the planet and causing a new disease to spread. Blow up a ton of emulsion and trigger the awakening of things that scare the locust. And don't even get me started on Travviss' nonsense.
Really, the question isn't who is better. The question is how the hell has humanity lasted so long with these idiots in charge?
